During any season, people can see motorcyclists of all ages riding Highway 421 North. The curves in the road have given Highway 421 the nickname ‘the snake,’ and the road has become a popular destination.

Since riding is such a popular pursuit, many who live in Johnson County have mentioned there are not a lot of stores selling motorcycle accessories nearby. Many have found it necessary to purchase gear online or travel out of town to a bigger city.

To fill the growing need, local business owner Anthony Wilburn decided to merge his popular upholstery business, Your Upholstery Place, with his online store, Corn Creek Cutlery.

Since establishing Corn Creek Cutlery, Wilburn quickly noticed the need for a place for his online customers to shop in person.

While discussing how popular the online destination is for people who want motorcycle apparel, Wilburn said, “It is doing so well on eBay I was encouraged to open up a physical shop.”

“I want to get to know my customers and become friends,” said Wilburn. “Just like the upholstery store.”

Since ‘the snake’ is well traveled by bikers, merging the two popular businesses at one location was an easy choice.

“We see people on motorcycles all the time,” said Wilburn. “We are a twofold business under ‘My Upholstery Place.’ We do furniture and boat upholstery. I have expanded my upholstery shop to include hard-to-find motorcycle apparel and accessories.”

While having vast experience in upholstery ‘having done it my whole life,” Wilburn reports he is excited to offer customers bike seat reupholstery.

The biker apparel and accessories are “mostly preowned,” and the business will certainly attract motorcycle enthusiasts looking for a good deal.

But Wilburn wants people to know that is only part of what the new in-person store will offer.

In addition to upholstery, biker apparel, and accessories, Corn Creek Cutlery, as the name suggests, is a knife store.

“I have had an interest all my life in knives,” said Wilburn. “We buy, sell, or trade collector or hunting knives.”

Corn Creek Cutlery is currently open for business, located at 2676 Hwy 421 N, Mountain City, TN 37683.
