The award, given every two years, recognises research leading to new advances in medical science, and is intended to recognize meritorious research by mid-career biochemists in the field of biochemistry related to medicine. Professor Ellie Tzima awarded 2024 Biochemical Society GlaxoSmithKline award — Radcliffe Department of Medicine

Professor Tzima will receive her award in 2024. On winning the award, she said "I am humbled and honoured to receive this award. It is a testament to the wonderful people who have been part of my journey and the stimulating collaborations and incredible support I have had from mentors, family and friends over the years."
