I also faced similar issues while setting up the new Thomson smart TV (Thomson LED Smart TV UD9 43-inch). But in my case, the HD channels went completely silent while SD channels were working fine. Note that this issue generally occurs with the TVs that don't have Dolby support. Tata Sky HD comes with Dolby Digital Surround.

If you have faced similar problem with the Tata Sky audio after installing a new TV, here's what you need to do.

Step 1: Keep your set-top-box and TV on. Press on the "organiser" button on the remote.

Step 2: Go to "User Settings" option. Choose "Sound Settings"

Step 3: You will see following options on the screen - "Set top box volume level", "preferred audio for SPDIF", "Audio Delay" and "Preferred Audio for HDMI." By default, "preferred audio" options are set to Dolby.

Step 4: Use the remote to change the both settings to PCM.

Step 5: Save the changes and exit.

Just a small trivia — PCM stands for Pulse Code Modulation. This technology converts analog audio signals into digital audio signals without the compression. It is commonly used in PCs, digital telephony, compact discs, and other digital audio apps.
