One DIY fan ripped up her dated carpet and was shocked to find 'beautiful' tiles hidden beneath it

Woman stunned after she rips up her old carpet and finds

As she started to rip up her dated, floral carpet, she realised it had been laid on top of tiles.

The black and white tiles had been placed to form an intricate, geometric pattern which is believed to be commonly associated with the Victorian era.

Rachel Robinson sent a photo of her discovery to the DIY On A Budget Official group with the caption "Wooo look what we’ve just found under the carpet".

She was soon inundated with over 2,700 comments and 40,000 likes from other impressed diyers.

One person commented: "Beautiful. Makes me want to rip off mine".

A second agreed: "Oh my god thats totally awsome.... what a fabulous find, who would want to cover such a beautiful flooring".

Whilst a few others gave her tips on how to clean the tiles in order to get them back to its former glory.

One suggested: "Alcohol gel or wipes will also get get sticky residue off".

And one more advised: "You can fill the gripper rod holes with black tile grout".

Another woman shared her handy hack for stripping paint in no time, using a vegetable peeler.

After struggling to rid her bannister of the stubborn paint she went in search for a tool that could make the process slightly easier.

And it worked a treat.
